I used to teach this so please excuse the terrible example work. It can be used to make work that is adjacent to, opposite to or a new way of creating the same image.

I used a poster by Aesthetic Apparatus

I then charted the qualities of the poster. You can make up your own criteria and qualities within that criteria. Best to keep it fairly simple though.

Then you can use these to create an alternate version. The antithesis.

And again to make an adjacent image

It is easier for me to think of risk in this way. I can isolate the safety points within my own work and play with them to make new things. I maybe have a few too many things on the go at the moment but I could/ may/ plan to/ idk.

If anyone actually reads this I just thought it may be helpful if they were also struggling to loosen up and try new approaches.
