I have been reading more virginia Woolf, recently Granite and Rainbow and A Woman of Letters. I have always thought of her as great writer but separate to my female experience. One of those strong and stoic women. Mentally unwell but in some subdued and Victorian way. I have been wrong. She is as messy as me. I was talking about internalised guilt and shame in womanhood as it relates to perform femininity and I think she and as an extension of her, her work, is a clear example of this.

In my post on performed femininity I asked how to escape the performance and its root cause the male gaze. Virginia Woolf killed it. I am in a lazy mood so I am just going to include the highlights as they were the parts I most identified with and that most relate to my work.
