When I was in college I loved playing with disappearing fabric. We had a great teacher who wanted us to use and play with everything. Jill something. As I have a sewing machine now and can use disappearing muslin again I wanted to try to make some flimsy women with my found threads. They could be all transparent and hollow. I am leaning into very delicate and ethereal and ghostly things at the moment. I think its reading all these diaries of dead girls. I am currently on Sylvia Plath’s diaries so that probably explains a lot.
I have been looking at inspo as it has been a while and I have loved some of the things I have found. Not all of it is actually made with disappearing muslim but It has the same qualities. I could also make little composite parts if the women can’t be starched enough to stand alone and then sew them onto other things. I could also embroider a diary entry or secrets onto the fabric and then watch them float away on the water.
This is just a google search of a woman I remember loving a long time ago. I love her collections and groupings. They are quite unsettling.

I love the holes in these and the idea of revealing, breaking etc. But also the hand is immense.
